1. Dedication

Dedication

More than 450,000 engineers, skilled workers, managers, and families; and the American taxpayer and political leaders, all of whom contributed mightily to the success of the Apollo Program at a time of great ideological conflict between democracy and tyranny — it is to these, largely unsung heroes of Apollo that this diary is most humbly dedicated. The contribution of these individuals and teams to the ending of the Cold War and to the success of humankind’s first venture away from Earth can never be adequately repaid.

I also dedicate this diary to those hundreds of modern lunar scientists who, in aggregate, have expanded without measure our understanding of the early history of the Earth and the role the Moon will play in further space exploration and settlement by humankind.
